Hi Shipmates;
Back in October I had the pleasure of spending two weeks in
Hawaii with Elaine,my Son Bruce and his wife Susan. The first week was
spent on Maui, and the second week was spent on Oahu.As on past
vacations I always take a full day to spent at Pearl Harbor.Having
been there on numerous trips I always find it very emotional to walk
the hallowed streets of Pearl and really enjoy it. While waiting for
our Naval launch to depart for the Arizona Memorial we walked over to
the USS BOWFIN MUSEUM,while touring the USS BOWFIN I engaged in a
conversation with a sailor doing Docent work on the Sub. I was
wearing my Bushnell cap and he became very curious. After a few
minutes he suggested I go see Charles Hinman, he is the Director and
curator at the Submarine Museum, he told me he had files on all US
Subs as well as US SUB. TENDERS.That is all I needed to hear and I
headed for the office. Met Mr. Hinman, he showed me a file on the
BUSHNELL that almost dropped me off the seat I was sitting on.I asked
him if it were possible to get copies of each as cost was not a
question, I just wanted them. He promised to scan them to my Son and
then to me.
Just yesterday he scanned me a group of Bushnell pictures that I have
never seen.I immediately forwarded them to Jerry & Sherman to include
on our web site, I am sure you will all be as pleased as I was to see
them.Yes it is a small world.ENJOY-****REUNION SOON ****
